Network Delivery Manager

As the Network Delivery Manager, you will lead year-on-year delivery of all infrastructure-related targets in line with our Paths for Everyone vision in Scotland.

 As the Network Delivery Manager, you will lead year on year delivery of all infrastructure-related targets in line with our Paths for Everyone Vision in Scotland. A key objective of this role is to ensure a continued pipeline of infrastructure development projects for year on year construction. Critical to our success in Scotland are the active travel policy goals of the Scottish Government. While delivery of the National Cycle Network across Scotland is guided by Sustrans’ 30 Year Network Plan.

In this role, you will own the management of the National Cycle Network infrastructure delivery programme in Scotland including; overseeing, commissioning and tracking progress of internal teams (Places for Everyone; Design & Engineering) and delivery partners (i.e. local authorities & National Parks) involved in Network delivery.

You will report to the Head of Network Development (Scotland). You will lead a small team of 3 delivery coordinators; tasked with delivering and commissioning route development activities and ensuring stewardship and management of the project pipeline database.

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people in non-departmental public bodies, those within local authorities and professional bodies.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within commutable distance of Edinburgh with regular travel expected to a nominated hub/office base in Edinburgh.

 

About you

You will be an experienced leader who motivates their team, building relationships with ease, bringing with you experience of working across organisations and across multiple sectors.

With demonstrable experience of delivering infrastructure projects; you will have working a background within the transport, transport consultancy or the construction sectors. Your knowledge of local and regional transport planning authorities and processes in Scotland will help you advocate for sustainable transport and better places across the region.

You must be a skilled communicator with excellent negotiating skills, as you will play a key role in overseeing contracts and agreements with delivery partners and external contractors; in house commissioning and tendering as well as advising our land and estate management operations.
