What does a volunteer litter pick organiser do?

As a volunteer litter pick organiser, you will organise and run litter picks on a section of traffic-free Route 75 starting at Locks Street, Coatbridge.

You will welcome members of the public to these litter picks and liaise with the local authority to arrange uplifts.

As a litter pick organiser, you will be encouraged to:

  • keep an eye on the litter in the area, and plan regular group activities to tackle it
  • advertise your litter pick locally and engage members of the local community to help
  • maintain a local stock of litter picking equipment
  • keep a record of participants and report your volunteering hours online.

 

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • self-motivated, and can carry out tasks independently once directed
  • personable
  • committed to sustainable travel.

 

Time commitment

Flexible - from a few hours a month.

 

Training and support offered

  • Training, support and direction from the Sustrans volunteer coordinator and land manager.
  • Guidance and advice to run these activities safely and securely.
  • Equipment and staff support.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses (agreed in advance).
  • Networking days.
  • Regular communications to support you in your role.
  • Online community to find support from other volunteers.
