What does a volunteer litter pick organiser do?
As a volunteer litter pick organiser, you will organise and run litter picks on a section of traffic-free Route 75 starting at Locks Street, Coatbridge.
You will welcome members of the public to these litter picks and liaise with the local authority to arrange uplifts.
As a litter pick organiser, you will be encouraged to:
- keep an eye on the litter in the area, and plan regular group activities to tackle it
- advertise your litter pick locally and engage members of the local community to help
- maintain a local stock of litter picking equipment
- keep a record of participants and report your volunteering hours online.
We're looking for individuals who are:
- self-motivated, and can carry out tasks independently once directed
- personable
- committed to sustainable travel.
Time commitment
Flexible - from a few hours a month.
Training and support offered
- Training, support and direction from the Sustrans volunteer coordinator and land manager.
- Guidance and advice to run these activities safely and securely.
- Equipment and staff support.
- Out-of-pocket expenses (agreed in advance).
- Networking days.
- Regular communications to support you in your role.
- Online community to find support from other volunteers.
