Our volunteers are fundamental to the work of what Kent CRP does. They support everyone to travel more sustainably and become involved in their local community.

What does a community rail partnership volunteer do?
Depending on your time and interests, our volunteers support and organise a range of activities to promote train use and sustainable travel to and from stations. Amongst other things, our volunteers:
- run one-off events like ‘music trains’ or bike rides to and from a station
- assist with projects to make sustainable travel easier, such as installing cycle rails around a station making it easier to take a bike on a train
- make improvements to stations such as making and maintaining a station garden
- involve the local community in artwork for a station and adopting their local station.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for people who are:
- self-motivated to carry out tasks independently once directed
- able to work well within a team
- good communicators
- well organised
- able to work with a diverse range of people
- committed to KCRP objectives as laid out within its Action Plan.
We welcome applicants with a wide range of skills. Enthusiasm, commitment and a strong sense of community are essential.
Time commitment

Several hours or several days per month depending on your volunteering activity.
Training and support offered
- Training, support and direction from a KCRP Officer.
- An initial welcome session with training on how to carry out your role.
- Specific training courses to support your volunteer role e.g. Walk Leader training.
- Opportunities to develop your role and gain new skills.
- Regular communications from Sustrans.
- Sustrans volunteer website and online volunteer community for support and networking opportunities with other volunteers.
- Health and Safety guidelines and simple risk assessments.
- Agreed expenses in advance reimbursed.
