I Bike schools volunteer, Aberdeen

Are you passionate about cycling and walking? Could you inspire young people to be more active? We're currently looking for positive and enthusiastic volunteers to help us encourage more children to walk, cycle or scoot to school.

  • Role: Community
  • Location: Aberdeen
  • Time commitment: Flexible - roughly once a month
  • Type: Volunteer role
  • Closing date: Ongoing
  • Reference: 21062021

Why become a Sustrans volunteer?

Our volunteers are what make Sustrans special.

Volunteering with I Bike is fun, rewarding and offers plenty of opportunities to get outdoors, boost the CV, gain experience of working with children and learn new skills.

Training is provided, including child protection training, cycling skills and bike repairs. Bikes and helmets can be provided depending on availability.

What does a Sustrans I Bike volunteer do?

I Bike is an innovative schools project promoting cycling, walking and scooting. Children, parents and teachers are empowered to travel actively, safely and confidently to school, encouraging exercise and reducing traffic congestion.

We advocate for volunteering for all - please talk to us if you have any accessibility requirements or other specific requirements.

Sustrans Scotland’s I Bike Schools Volunteers support I Bike Officers in running outdoor activities for children and young people at schools.

You would be volunteering alongside a dedicated I Bike Officer at schools supporting activities for children such as learning to cycle, playground cycle skills, led bike rides, led walks, bike maintenance and much more!

As a volunteer, you will have the support and guidance of the I Bike Officer.  You will learn how to engage children with the activities, helping them to build skills and confidence on a bike or scooter and ensuring activities are delivered safely.
