North West Greenway Network

The North West Greenway Network will create a cross border network of greenways across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It aims to link people with places locally, regionally and nationally. It will improve peoples’ social, economic and environmental wellbeing. Here's everything you need to know about this project.

How we can help with active travel

The North West Greenway Network is committed to delivering infrastructure that will link people and places, thus enabling choice around travel options.

That’s where we can help.

Our Active Travel Officer is on hand to provide advice, guidance and training to encourage people to travel actively and more sustainably.

And they can provide access to a wide range of engagement activities, events and tools.

These are all aimed at empowering individuals, schools and workplaces to take action and make changes to how they travel.

We can also include activities along the greenways such as:

  • training and support to promote active travel
  • cycle training programmes.
  • bike maintenance demonstrations.
  • awareness-raising led walks and rides.

How to get involved

The first step is to set up a meeting with our Active Travel Officer to discuss the benefits of getting involved and talk through the range of initiatives on offer.

Signing up simply means we will set out what is needed from you and what we can offer to support changing travel attitudes and behaviours.

All support is available free of charge to your workplace.

Switching short journeys to more sustainable modes makes a huge difference – so many of our everyday journeys are less than a few miles which make them ideal for leaving the car keys behind and walking or cycling. Blockquote quotation marks
