Volunteering in your community

We have lots of people across the UK volunteering to help us make it easier for people to walk and cycle in their local communities.

Our volunteers support others to be more active.

They lead rides along the National Cycle Network to help people discover the joys of cycling. And they run walks to get others out and about.

Some of our volunteers teach children to ride a bike safely. And others go to local events to promote Sustrans and our work.

Whatever they're doing, Sustrans volunteers are making a real difference in their communities.

Sustrans volunteering and Covid-19

As restrictions begin to ease Sustrans will start to support small group volunteering activities on a case by case approach.

With the ‘stay at home’ message lifted, we continue to support our volunteers to carry small actions on the National Cycle Network.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we've placed some restrictions on larger group volunteering activities to ensure the safety of our volunteers.

You are very welcome to apply for any of our current volunteering opportunities.

However, there may be a delay in processing your application. And you may not be able to get started properly in your role until regular volunteering starts back up.

By encouraging people to travel more sustainably and helping them to make a difference in their community, I benefit too. It makes me feel good, I can give something back to society and I’ve also learned lots of new skills. Blockquote quotation marks
